The official currency of Colombia or also known as the Colombian peso COP is the abbreviation determined to it in a formal way. Assigned by ISO 4217, who designates with three-letter codes (as mentioned above) to all currencies in the world.
These were created for the purpose of eradicating any kind of confusion created after currencies with the same name. This is composed as follows: the first two letters will be the initials of the corresponding country and the last letter of these three will be the initial of the type of currency implemented in the country.
